Polypharmacy & Baby Boomers
If you were born somewhere in, or between the years 1946 and 1964, consider yourself a baby boomer. As of 2016, the baby boomers within this country are between 52-70 years of age. Commonly, with age comes a list of secondary diagnosis.
When you sit down and think about how important medications are for individuals, especially as one ages, it is mind boggling just how much of a positive impact they can have on an individual, if managed appropriately. Management is key when it comes to prescriptions and supplements.
There are some times in life where the trial and error approach is appropriate. You may try one paint sample against another around your home before you come up with your favorite look. You may try to handle a project on your own before determining if professional assistance is needed.
As a provider, when someone comes in with any gastrointestinal complaints, it is almost impossible to definitively diagnose the issue without gaining more clues. This involves doing a thorough assessment on the patient and also further identifying the symptoms. While some cases can be simple, other gastrointestinal symptoms can be much harder to diagnose.
We all know the symptoms well…coughing, sneezing, fever, body aches, stuffy nose making it nearly impossible to get much-needed rest. When a respiratory infection hits, it’s guaranteed misery for at least a few days. But, for some individuals, a respiratory infection can be much more serious.
